3. Dine in at Embankment Kitchen on Mother's Day
Treat your mum to a special 3-course set menu on Mother's Day. The Embankment Kitchen Sunday afternoon service offers a relaxed, luxury experience in the centre of Manchester where you can make your mum feel extra special.
Open from 1:45pm - 6pm on Sunday 27th March, the Mother’s Day set menu offers indulgent mains including a chargrilled 5oz rump steak, roast vegetable and vegan cheese wellington, and oven baked cod fillet. Desserts include a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and a classic sticky toffee pudding. From £32pp, view the full menu here and book your seat.
4. Enjoy a Sunday afternoon walk together
With plenty of food and drink options in Manchester to indulge in, you might fancy actually getting out of the city on Mother’s Day! And with Mother’s Day falling a little later this year, it will officially be spring and the clocks will have just gone forward an hour overnight… meaning an extra hour of evening sunshine.
Head north up to Ramsbottom to blow away the cobwebs with a walk around Holcombe Moor and up to Peel Tower. There are plenty of circular walks in the area depending on how far you want to go, but the trail up to Peel Tower from Ramsbottom itself will give you ample opportunity to stretch your legs.
If going south is more your thing, head to Lyme in Cheshire, a gorgeous National Trust property that served as the location of the BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice in the 90s. There are 1,400 acres of grounds to explore – look out for the herds of deer, ancient woodlands, and an Edwardian rose garden.
5. Get cultural at the Manchester Open Exhibition 2022
Mother’s Day falls on the last day of this year’s Manchester Open Exhibition – the perfect opportunity to catch this collection of artwork until it disappears until 2023. The exhibition displays 2,271 works of art made by more than 400 people of Greater Manchester – a true celebration of creativity across this talented region.
The gallery, located at HOME Manchester, is free to enter, but booking is required.
6. Challenge yourselves with The Cube Live
If your mum isn’t much of a lady of luxury, or your family is just super competitive, check out The Cube Live in Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre. Recently opened earlier in 2022, The Cube Live is home to many of the extraordinary tasks and games that are seen in ITV’s game show with the iconic perspex box. Currently only open in Manchester, groups of 2-4 people can take on The Cube Live with a mix of individual and group games. Booking is essential.
7. Be-gin your Mother’s Day with a distillery tour
For all the gin lovers, we can recommend visiting the Manchester Gin distillery, located in the city just off Deansgate. There are several options to choose from, including the 45-minute guided tour which is just £25pp and includes a G&T on arrival and a tutored tasting of 4 gins. You could also treat your mum to a Gin-Making Experience, where she’ll be able to choose the botanicals to distil her own gin to take home. Book your experience today.
