The Government announcement this week confirms that, all being well and the four tests being met, Brits could potentially enjoy domestic breaks in self contained self catering accommodation from 12th April. So what does that mean CitySuites? And can you book here from 12th April? We’ve addressed some of the questions we’ve been receiving.
Can I go on holiday in the UK from 12th April?
You can go on holidays within England as a single household group from 12th April (based on currently planned restriction lifting dates) providing your accommodation is self catering and self contained.
Will CitySuites be reopening on 12th April?
Yes, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be reopening to leisure travellers on 12th April (subject to the restrictions being lifted as expected).
Breaks are available starting that date.
Are the CitySuites apartments self contained and self catering?
Yes. The Government guidance specification around what constitutes self catering is as follows (as of 23rd February 2021):
“Overnight stays away from home in this country will be permitted and self-contained accommodation - those that do not require shared use of bathing, entry/exit, catering or sleeping facilities - can also reopen, though must only be used by members of the same household.”
All of our studios, one and two bedroom apartments have:
- Bathroom facilities
- Kitchen facilities
No two apartments share an entry door either.
Why can CitySuites reopen when hotels cannot?
The core difference between CitySuites and most hotels is that we’re an aparthotel. Our building is made up of self contained luxury serviced apartments.
With most hotels, you’ll have somewhere to sleep, a bathroom and maybe a seating area - but most do not have self contained kitchen facilities. This means you’d have to leave your accommodation to get food and is therefore not self catering.
As such, most hotels will be unable to reopen on 12th April 2021.
Can I travel with friends?
As of the current guidance, travel will be permitted in single household groups or support bubbles only as of 12th April.
What happens if I book then the restrictions aren’t lifted in time?
We know how complicated Covid is. And although we’re currently expecting to be welcoming you all back on 12th April, should the situation change we’ve outlined our cancellation policies around Covid here.
Will I be able to use the gym and pool on 12th April?
Yes. If the measures are lifted in line with the timetable outlined by Boris Johnson on 22nd February, then our gym and pool will reopen on 12th April.
And what about the restaurant?
We’ll be unable to reopen our restaurant before 17th May in keeping with the roadmap announced on 22nd February.
Can I cook in my apartment at CitySuites?
Absolutely. Each apartment has a kitchen with:
- Smeg appliances (oven, grill, kettle, toaster)
- Nespresso coffee machine
Can I order room service from 12th April?
We’re unable to offer room service.
Can I order takeaway into CitySuites?
Absolutely. And there are hundreds of amazing restaurants and takeaways offering collection and delivery around Manchester City Centre right now. So if you don’t fancy cooking on your break, then order in.
When can I book?
We’re taking leisure bookings from 12th April onwards right now, subject to availability.
