The 17th March brings us St Patrick’s Day, and here at CitySuites we’re excited to toast all things from the emerald isle! If, like us, you’re joining in the festivities in Manchester, then CitySuites is the perfect place to rest your head and recover after an Irish jig and a few pints of Guinness.

Official launch of the Manchester Irish Festival

When? Friday 8th March

Where? O’Driscoll’s Irish Bar – the beer tent outside Manchester Town Hall

Distance: 12 minute walk from CitySuites

The Manchester Irish Festival will officially launch in the heart of Manchester on the 8th March from 6pm. The evening will showcase a variety of acts from Ireland and Manchester’s Irish community. Previous years have featured special guests including Paddy Crerand, Mary Robinson and Michael Flatley.

St Patrick’s Day Parade

When? Sunday 10th March

Where? Irish World Heritage Centre, Cheetham Hill

Distance: 15 minutes by Metrolink from CitySuites

The parade will leave the Irish World Heritage Centre at 12 noon and will finish in Albert Square at around 1pm.

Over the years, members of the Irish Government have walked the parade, including the Taoiseach of Ireland Bertie Aherne, and Ministers Brendan Smith and John O’Donaghue.

Tens of thousands of people will turn out to line the route of the parade to revel in the party atmosphere and join in the celebrations. After the parade, continue the celebrations with live entertainment at O’Sheas Irish Bar on Princess Street.

St Patrick’s Day Party

When? Sunday 17th March

Where? O’Sheas Irish Bar

Distance: 15 minute walk from CitySuites

The biggest and best St Patrick’s Day party in Manchester. O’Sheas provides a great atmosphere and live music from 12pm. First on stage will be Lochin, featuring Kev Deesy and Paul Daly playing the best in Irish traditional music. Afternoon entertainment comes from the fantastic Green Hot Clover.
