There are lots of associations with January: people participating in Dry January, the dreaded "January Blues", and with Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve out of the way, it's likely everyone is also looking for January deals.

Candlelight: A Tribute To Taylor Swift

Date: 9th January

Taylor Swift has always been a big artist, but her notoriety to fame increased in 2023. The infamous Eras Tour brought so much joy from Taylor's iconic music that she was also put on People's Most Intriguing People list in 2023.

Candlelight is creating a Tribute To Taylor Swift, celebrating Swift's most iconic hits played in string quartet form. With plenty of options to add to your experience, Swifties who enjoy quartet music will have an incredible time.

Bring Me The Horizon

Bring Me The Horizon will be playing at AO Arena this January 2024. 

The band needs no introduction, hitting fans with a nostalgic and equally mesmerising performance. Recently headlining for the Reading and Leeds festival in 2022, BMTH still brings an incredible show for those coming to see. 

Miles Jupp: On I Bang

Miles Jupp, known for his appearances in various British TV shows (8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Have I Got News For You), is a brilliant comedian, actor and writer. So, suffice to say that his On I Bang tour is an anticipated hit this coming January. 

Sushi & Gyoza Making Class

The Rocky Horror Show

The legendary Rocky Horror Show is coming to Manchester this January 2024 at the Opera House. 

The story of two college kids Brad and Janet, and their experience with the silver-tongued Dr Frank'n'Furter, is always an unforgettable one for the audience watching.

Flight Club Event: Brunch Social

Brunch Social at Flight Club is an interesting twist to the common social darts they have in place. 

This event is perfect for groups of 4 or more, with a bottle of Prosecco in hand as well as a selection of outstanding pizza paddles to complement the day. 

First Breath: Factory International

This is a new artwork installation found in Manchester's newest venue Factory International. Throughout January (From 4 pm to 10 pm), audiences will have the opportunity to observe the light visible from various distances. 

Luke Jerram, the visual artist who designed this new piece, did so to represent the moment that a baby takes its first gasp of air. You can find the installation from various vantage points across the city.

 

The National Lottery's Big Night Of Musicals

Location: AO Arena

 

 

Enjoy a night of spectacular hits as we welcome back the National Lottery's Big Night of Musicals in the AO Arena! 

Hosted by comedian and musical star Jason Manford, audiences will find a mesmerising performance featuring some of musical's greatest hits, from Mouline Rouge to Everybody's Talking About Jamie. Book your ticket and enjoy a magical night of theatre.

 

The Halle: Viennese New Year

Date: 6th January

Location: Bridgewater Hall

 

 

The Halle is hosting a Viennese New Year concert. The programme will have an incredible lineup of classical hits from the likes of Strauss, Lehar and much more. 

This year will see various features including polkas, waltzes, and more. Take part in this annual whirl of a concert and witness the beautiful culture of Vienna through classical sound.

We're cheating a little here, but it's hard to fit all the ideal non-drinking events that those participating in Dry January in one post.

At least some of you will likely be participating, so we don't want to exclude Manchester as an ideal place to visit. Despite being popular with students and filled with bars, the city is also full of activities and events you can do that don't involve drinking. Check it out! 

A Great Start To 2024

With 2024 in full swing, it's hard not to be excited through the year as January - despite it being known as the "blue" month. 

The set of events in Manchester during January will serve as a benchmark for future events happening in the city. And there are tonnes to be excited for!
