Manchester Christmas Markets 2019

The bratwurst and glühwein are on the way as the 9th November marks the return of the UK’s longest running festive markets, the award-winning Manchester Christmas Markets.

The common misconception about the Manchester Christmas markets is that it’s a German affair, however Manchester adopts a much more international approach featuring a multitude of cuisines and gifts from every corner of the globe. Grab a slice of true Neapolitan pizza, a forkful of authentic Spanish Paella or even try a traditional roast dinner wrapped up in an enormous Yorkshire pudding! (It’s actually amazing).

Nothing quite gets your in that festive mood like wrapping up and grasping a steaming mug of mulled wine. Each year the Christmas Markets created a uniquely designed mug which can be yours to keep for £3 (usually).

If you wish to get into the thick of the festive action, you'll want head to Albert Square, situated on the steps of the stunning Manchester Town Hall. This is where you'll find the icon Santa perched on the entrance to the town hall overlooking the action. This is the main place to grab a bite to each and indulge in the various beverages on offer!

Our Christmas Market tip; make the 3-minute walk to Cathedral Gardens where you’ll find a more relaxed surrounding in which to soak up the festive atmosphere.

Popping out for lunch? You won't need to go far. Head to New Cathedral street! If you can temp yourself away from the high-end brands, you'll find Witch House, a quieter spot to grab a Christmas market staple; bratwurst!
