The Spooky Month: October Events In Manchester

A Packed October in 2023

This year, Manchester is holding nothing back with back-to-back events that will suit various audiences. October is known for many things in the UK: half-term holidays, Halloween, Oktoberfest, and so much more.

We've broken down the most interesting (and lesser-known, but equally entertaining) things you can look forward to this autumn month.

Don't forget to book CitySuites this autumn for an elevated stay!

Halloween - MCR Monsters

Mcr Monsters

From the 25th of October, the MCR Monsters are back in town to terrorise the locals! These loving creatures are set to make an appearance for Halloween in Manchester, taking over various locations such as Arndale and other well-known locations.

Keep a look out for these terrible abominations! (Don't forget to submit your photos with the hashtag #MCRMonsters).

Literature Festival

For both local bookworms and visitors of Manchester who enjoy written media, the Manchester Literature Festival is a celebration of fiction. With a mission to show off the best in modern writing through poetry, novels, scripts and others, Manchester's Literature Festival brings the best of literature to life.

From October 12th until the 22nd, the event will feature a variety of showcases, performances and workshops. Don't miss out this year.

Manchester Oktoberfest 2023

Get stuck in Manchester's Oktoberfest this year! More than just German beers, the event celebrates culture. From food to festivities, Manchester is transformed during Oktoberfest to reflect the gigantic beer festival that takes place in Munich every year.

Expect lots of feasts, beers, and memories made! Check out Oktoberfest happening in Manchester this year.

Manchester Half Marathon

The Half Marathon in Manchester is taking place on October 15 this year, and the day is commonly full of excitement and vibrancy. While it's more exciting for those taking part, there's nothing wrong with joining in supporting those who have trained to take on a colossal task like this!

The Folk Festival

The Folk Festival in Manchester is a showcase of some of the best folk and acoustic musicians in the UK. With venues including Band on the Wall, New Century Hall, and other well-known establishments that will create a fantastic atmosphere for the event.

Featuring the traditional Sunday sing-around, more sessions to the festival programme and new music from around the world, the Folk Festival is an incredible event not to be missed.

October Half Term

In the UK, the October half-term starts on the 23rd of October, and until the 27th of October, and there are plenty of things to do before, in between and after these dates. It's a perfect time for families to spend time with their loved ones - and there's lots to experience during the October half term:

You can also check out some of the well-known family-friendly venues in Manchester for your enjoyment. This includes the vast number of museums in the city, as well as entertainment venues that are child-friendly.
