Serviced apartments vs hotels – what’s best for you?

So, you’ve chosen a destination, arranged your travel, and now the only thing left to do is decide where you’re going to stay.

Hotels have long been the go-to option, but changing traveller habits and a demand for more options is driving huge growth in the serviced apartment industry.

To help make your decision a little easier, here we’ve broken down the key differences between hotels and serviced apartments.

Space to live

Entering a hotel room, you’ve come to expect a nice comfy bed and bathroom ready for you to freshen up and get a good night’s sleep. With serviced apartments though, one of their unique features is the additional space.

The clue is in ‘apartment’, with much more space to live than a traditional hotel room. Serviced apartments differ by brand and location, but with most you can expect a much more generous living area, including your own kitchen – elements you don’t traditionally find in hotel rooms.

One thing to consider is how long you wish to book for. Most serviced apartments accommodate longer stays, with rooms featuring washing machines and more generous wardrobe space – perfect for a weekend getaway or longer.

If you’re looking for just one night’s accommodation though, a hotel may be the best option for you.

Group bookings

Once the number of people staying at a hotel creeps up to three or four, you would typically need separate hotel rooms. Adjoining rooms are often an option though, helping to avoid searching for friends and family across multiple floors and buildings.

Serviced apartments are better equipped at sleeping more people all in one place, with apartments often accommodating up to six people. This can make it much easier to enjoy your time together, especially with a young family.
